Woven textures, embroidery or anything that has a hand-made, natural texture is back in a big way. The trend for texture can be seen across a range of interior styles, from traditional country farmhouse, to natural coastal chic, to rustic modern city loft.

Fashionable textured fabrics for both soft furnishings and upholstery also include slubby linen, crewels, soft suede,  chunky wools, chenille and lush cut velvets. 

Intricate embroidery using a raised 'cording'  technique is currently featuring on many fabrics and the use of modern technology has made such detailed designs much more affordable,

Mixing and matching contrasting textures is also a hot trend. Sleek leather sofas look great with a heavily textured cushion and a chunky knit throw. Likewise if the sofa fabric is textured a silky smooth cushion will sharpen it up.
